I turn messy processes into working software.

Custom web applications, internal tools and dashboards that replace spreadsheets, manual steps and disconnected tools — plus websites your team can update themselves. Designed, built and delivered by one experienced person who understands the business problem as well as the code.

From business problem to working system.

Especially useful when you know what the problem is, but not yet what the software should look like. You don't need a finished spec, database design or mockups. After years of running production operations and working directly with business owners and clients, turning a messy process into clear requirements, a workflow and a usable system is part of the job — not something you have to figure out first.

The tools changed.
The pattern didn't.

Louie Alma

I started in design, publishing and production — the part of the job where artwork has to print exactly as intended. Looking back, much of my career has followed the same pattern, though it was never a plan: I'd learn how the work actually moved, notice where time was being lost, and end up improving, redesigning or running the system around it.

That took me from design into web and multimedia, from production into management and international transitions, and from doing the work myself into designing better ways for teams to do it. Even in photography, I found myself improving workflows and writing guidelines around the work.

Web and technology have been part of that work for much of my career. What's changed is how much of the resulting system I can build. Modern development tools, AI-assisted engineering among them, now let me carry a business problem much further myself — through workflow, UX, data and automation to working software.

Systems that replace the spreadsheet.

Custom Business Operations, CRM & Workflow Platform

The starting point

From scattered tools to one operational system

Client details, jobs, pricing and payments lived in different places, so every job meant re-typing information and checking several tools for the current state. The platform is being built to bring that work into one connected system, module by module.

Research-Driven Financial Comparison & Automation Platform

The challenge

A financial comparison is only as reliable as the research behind it

Comparison tables are easy to publish and hard to keep right. Every figure has to be found, checked, kept up to date and explained — month after month — or readers have no reason to trust it.

The starting point

One place instead of searching through messages

Files, links, updates and requests were spread across chat threads, email and shared folders. Finding something that had already been sent meant searching for it — or asking for it again. The workspace gives every piece of work one obvious home.

Treasury & Liquidity Forecasting Dashboard

The starting point

Liquidity answers locked inside spreadsheets

Cash, investor flows, loans and commitments were tracked in workbooks that worked for recording, but made it slow to answer the questions management actually asks: how much is available, and when does it get tight?

From internal tools to public websites.

A single website or web application can involve UX, frontend, backend, CMS, data, automation and deployment. I work across those disciplines, so you don’t have to coordinate several different people just to get one solution built.

What that means for your project.

Business first

I've run production teams against client deadlines and moved whole workflows between countries. So I start with how the work actually happens — the spreadsheet, the inbox, the workaround — and design the system from there. Often the right system is smaller than expected.

One accountable person

The person you explain the problem to is the person who designs, builds, tests and launches the solution. Less gets lost between people, and you always know who is responsible. When a project needs specialist skills, I bring in the right people and stay your single point of accountability.

Designed, not just built

A background in design, publishing and photography means the interface gets the same care as the logic. Tools people enjoy using are tools people actually use.

Built to be trusted

Business data is handled with care: clear change history, the right access for each person, protected records, and human review where it matters. Practical systems, not demos.

How AI fits in

I use AI coding agents extensively to write, test and fix code faster. They speed up the building — they don't make the decisions.

What gets built, and whether it's right, stays with me: the business problem, requirements, product and workflow decisions, UX, business logic, architecture, reviewing every change, testing, deployment and delivery.

The eye behind the interface.

Visual communication has always been part of how I work. It's why the interfaces I build are composed, not just assembled.

Graphic, publication and brand design, video editing and motion graphics are available remotely. Photography and video production are on location, based in the UAE.

Graphic design & publishing

Editorial and publication design, advertising, brand identities and marketing materials — grounded in hands-on pre-press and colour separation, and extensive production for commercial and offset print: specifying, proofing and making sure the result prints as intended. Multimedia and motion work have been part of the practice from early on.

Photography & video

A professional practice, not a sideline: 2,750+ professional photography assignments, including 2,000+ property photography assignments, alongside interiors, hospitality, corporate and events, food and product, portraits and industrial/documentary work. Video production, editing and motion graphics, including aerial work.

  1. Design, publishing & production

Pre-press and colour separation at a printing house, then publication, editorial and advertising design for publishers and agencies in Manila, Doha and Dubai — including brand identities, manuals and print for global pharmaceutical brands. I led layout and design teams, owned print specification and proofing, and introduced motion graphics and interactive work for exhibitions and events.

  2. Production & operations leadership

Production Manager, then Operations Manager, for agencies producing magazines and newspaper advertising for US and Canadian publishers. I built and led design and production teams, set up a new Philippine back office — hiring, workflow and manuals — and ran SLA-driven operations delivering hundreds of ads a day. I led four international production transitions — including onsite transition and knowledge-transfer work in California, Florida, Illinois and Indiana — moving US clients' publication and advertising production to teams in Manila while protecting quality and deadlines.

    Same output · Same quality

As the workflow matured, the pioneer team ran leaner without losing output or quality — and several of its original members went on to become team leaders and managers.

  3. Web, digital operations & automation

In Doha I introduced website development as a new service and won new clients with it. Later I took on a role previously split between two people, rebuilding a company website with database-driven features and automation alongside its publications and multimedia. As senior web developer for a Dubai media group's food and hospitality titles, I automated routine online production — campaigns, ad management, subscriptions, artwork submission — and built job-ticket and workload-forecasting tools that other departments adopted.

  4. Independent creative & digital work

My own licensed business: design, websites, photography, video and motion work, handled directly from proposal and pricing through to delivery, with several clients returning for further projects over the years. Between periods of independent practice, I was employed as photographer for a Dubai holiday-homes company, also handling graphic design and web work, building the team's workflow and writing the guidelines for outsourced photographers.

  5. Custom applications & business systems

Today, those disciplines come together in custom applications and business systems — combining workflow thinking, UX and visual design, data, automation and modern web development. AI-assisted engineering expands how much of that complete system I can personally implement. My experience spans real estate and holiday homes, hospitality, creative production, publishing, media, advertising and corporate events. That firsthand industry knowledge helps me understand the workflows behind the systems I build.
